What is the alcove?

The alcove is a collective of individuals, businesses, and organizations that come together for a sharing of knowledge to promote society and community.

Basically, it's just people like you who want to help make your small part of the world a better place.

In a sense, the Alcove is a "Chamber of Commerce" variant, more like a "Chamber of Communities". It's just a small subset group that can attach to any existing group without problems!

But unlike most groups, the alcove is completely free! We don't charge dues, and you don't have to give money for events either. We believe that if we make these optional, more people will be willing to join; in the end, it'll balance out.

Alcove operates on a principal that every dollar matters. If every person in a town gave just one dollar, you could have thousands or millions to use for the community! In reality though, you're more likely to have a few people give a few dollars to hundreds, with 90% not giving a dime. We believe in showing people just how much you can do for just a few dollars -- for every dollar does add up.

What does membership give me?

Alcove member or not, there are benefits to having it in your community:

  • No membership dues. Keep your money for things that are important -- advertising, and community events.
  • Anyone can join: business, groups, or individuals.
  • Free Customer Service Information!
    • Downloadable Information is free
    • Seminars come at a price, contact us for information
  • Monthly meetings (as scheduled by members) held at business members' locations. Thus giving all places to promote their services while giving free space for meetings (so no dues are possible).
  • Listing in our online business directory, in your business type, and alphabetically within.
  • Anyone who contacts us about businesses in your area will be told about your business or group -- even if their a competitor of ours.
  • Monthly newsletters sent to all members. E-mail is preferred, but we'll even mail it if desired (at a fee). Each newsletter will highlight different businesses and services in the area, and include articles by the members!
  • Updated business directory included with each newsletter.
  • Quarterly get-togethers and celebrations for the community. Things such as job fairs, business meet-and-greets, summer celebrations (parties at a park), even fundraisers to build things for the community.
    • Alcove will organize them, but the community is the one running it!
  • All Alcove profits are used for the community -- it's designed to operate as a break-even service.
  • qrsevlo, Inc.'s 35% profit giving uses the Alcove membership as "who gets the money" list (Alcove is a qrsevlo, Inc. service)
  • Community assistance -- if someone in the community needs something (new roof, medical help, etc), members of the alcove will be contacted to help generate the funds for them.

What we ask from members (optional, but we'd like it!):

  • Vow to help the community whenever possible
  • Help with getting the word out, or give a few dollars (literally -- like $1, $2) whenever money's needed to help the community.
  • Put up a small "alcove member" sign at workplace, company newsletters, etc, so others find out about us.
